Inspired by eight years of living in Asia, Annina Fischer discovered the beauty and craftsmanship of vintage Japanese Fukuro Obi. Fascinated by these extraordinary textiles, she envisioned a new way to wear and preserve them. This idea became Annina Designs – transforming pieces of Japanese textile history into one-of-a-kind bags and accessories.

Annina Designs was founded by Annina Fischer out of a fascination for the beauty and craftsmanship of traditional Japanese textiles.
At the heart of every creation is an authentic vintage Fukuro Obi – the elaborate sash traditionally worn with a Japanese kimono. Woven from luxurious silk and often featuring intricate motifs in gold and silver threads, each Obi carries its own history, artistry and character.
Carefully selected vintage Fukuro Obi are given a new life and transformed into distinctive bags and accessories. The original beauty and character of the textile remain at the heart of every design, while contemporary elements give each piece a new purpose.
Every creation is unique. The placement of the motifs, the colours and the individual character of each vintage Obi ensure that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Traditional Japanese motifs are an essential part of many Annina Designs creations. Cranes, chrysanthemums, waves, peonies and geometric patterns are more than decorative elements – many carry meanings associated with longevity, happiness, prosperity, strength and harmony.
Sustainability is a natural part of this philosophy. By giving existing textiles a new purpose, precious materials and traditional craftsmanship are preserved rather than forgotten.
